✳On August 9 of last year, a 31-year-old junior physician was raped and killed by an assailant at the state-run RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The authorities discovered her body in the lecture room of the hospital. Junior physicians in West Bengal staged protracted protests in response to the incident, calling for justice and more security at government hospitals, sparking widespread indignation. Three months after the occurrence, on November 11, the trial for the rape and murder case started in a court in Kolkata. The Calcutta High Court ordered the Central Bureau of inquiry (CBI) to take over the inquiry from the Kolkata Police, and the CBI has demanded “Maximum Punishment” for the decision. January 9 marked the end of the hearing.

On a plea deal, the Sealdah court found civic volunteer Sanjay Roy guilty of raping and killing a female doctor. In twelve minutes, the verdict was delivered. After hearing the decision, Sanjay began yelling inside the courtroom. He declared his innocence before the judge. They were framing him. In the courtroom, Sanjay also spoke about the Rudraksha mala that hung around his neck. The judge stated that he will pronounce the sentence on Monday at 12:30 pm, when he hears his case.

Judge Statement: The authorities have charged you under sections 64, 66, and 103(1) of the Indian Penal Code in the chargesheet. They have framed the charge under these sections. The witnesses examined and the documents and information brought by the CBI lawyers have proved your guilt. The court finds you guilty. The way you strangled and killed him can result in life imprisonment or even death. I will hear from you and your lawyer on Monday.

“I always wear a rudraksh chain around my neck.If I had committed the crime, someone would have broken my chain at the spot of the incident. I can’t do this crime. “

“The court will hear the matter on Monday,” Judge said. Now, I am sending you to judicial custody. You will be sentenced on Monday. I set a time limit of 12: 30 for the hearing. Then I will announce the punishment.

Following the announcement of the result, the victim’s father congratulated the court judge. As the judge left his seat after the verdict, the victim’s father said to him, crying, “You have fully honored the trust I placed in you. I want to thank you.” Hearing this, the judge told the victim’s father that he would hear their case on Monday.

“I don’t have the power to thank the judge,” the victim’s father stated after leaving the courtroom. I appreciate his perspective on the issue. On the day of his testimony, Sanjay also brought up the subject of Rudraksh. My daughter is never going to return. I want Sanjay to get the harshest penalty possible. The death penalty is the harshest penalty. Therefore, I support the death penalty. Additionally, I want everyone responsible for this tragedy to be punished.”
